The media doesn't know what is happening in the world. Gapminder.org presents real world data in user friendly graphs. This lesson can be used in almost all subject areas with strong connections to math, history, and social studies.

If you’ve never used the Numbers App, you’re missing out! It’s NOT just another spreadsheet tool. Experience an interdisciplinary math and science lesson using Apple’s Numbers App while actively participating in an investigation focused on sleep and the brain. A Numbers spreadsheet becomes the perfect canvas for scaffolding learning for students and visualizing data through drawing. Not a math or science teacher? Don’t let that stop you from attending. Numbers is an AWESOME tool for ALL teachers. To get the most out of this session, participants should come with an iPad with the Numbers app and Reaction Timer Game app downloaded.

Amplifying Student Voice with Clips and Flipgrid

Learn how to increase student voice and engagement in the classroom through the use of Apple’s Clips and Flipgrid. Clips is a fun, user-friendly video creation app that students can use for content creation and personal expression.. Fligrid is a safe, engaging space for students to share reflections, videos, and personally created movies. Participants will receive an overview of each app and see how they can be used in conjunction with each other to maximize sharing, collaboration, feedback, and engagement. Finally, participants will leave with access to a collaborative grid where they can share ideas for their own classrooms.

Accessibility Features in the Classroom

This session provides an opportunity to learn about and explore the accessibility features of Apple devices. This session is for all teachers who are interested in better serving all students, especially students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Language Learners. This workshop builds on the foundations of Universal Design for Learning and includes dynamic ways to use Apple devices to meet all students needs.

In this session, we will highlight strategies for amplifying students’ voice, rethinking assessments with project-based learning, and creating authentic audiences for students to share their learning. Educators will leave this workshop with resources and ideas that they can implement in their classroom to make a major impact on student learning.

Creating Interactive Video

Video is a great way to introduce students to content beyond the walls of a classroom. In this session, we’ll utilize the tool Edpuzzle to explore how students and teachers can actively engage with video content. You’ll leave this hands-on session with your own created interactive video! We’ll also highlight tools that you can use to create your own video content to appsmash with Edpuzzle. Digitize Your Post-Its with Google Keep

Are you like I was and have Post-Its everywhere: on your computer, on your phone, on your car dash, and even stuck to your (or embarrassingly enough, my children’s) shirt? Ditch those paper Post-Its and go digital! This session will discuss ways to take Google Keep notes (web and mobile), share these notes with collaborators, organize these notes to find/use them easily, and learn all that Google Keep has to offer. Crash Course: Apps to Flip the Humanities

The humanities (social studies, English, religion, languages) tend to be the hardest classes to use technology in effectively. Teachers tend to “replace” with technology as opposed use it to “enhance” the class.
